Denfer
Boutte vs. Anschutz Gulf Coast Corporation, Anschutz Exploration
Corporation, and Grey Wolf Drilling Company, L.P.,
District Court, Fort Bend County, Texas; We represented
Denfer Boutte in a lawsuit against Grey Wolf Drilling
Company. Grey Wolf employees failed to appropriately clean
a catwalk where Denfer Boutte was performing his work
on behalf of Halliburton Corporation. The catwalk had
become caked with oil-based drilling mud which caused
Denfer Boutte to fall and injure his knee and back. Boutte
was not able to return to oil field work due to these
significant injuries. This case was tried to a jury verdict
which resulted in a judgment of approximately $600,000.
Henry
Bowman and Susan Bowman, Individually and as heirs at
law of the Estate of Jackson E. Bowman, a deceased minor
vs. Silver Valley Ministries a/k/a Steps of Faith Ranch;
District Court of Bexar County Texas; Our firm was retained
to assist a family in recovering for the damages they
sustained when their young son was killed by falling more
than 28 feet into an unattended bomb shelter that had
partially filled with water that was buried beneath a
children's camp in rural Texas. Discovery in the case
revealed that the camp was aware of the dangers posed
by the abandoned shelter, but that it had done little
more than place a sheet of corrugated metal over the opening.
The case was settled for a confidential amount.
Kenneth
Broussard and Sandy Broussard vs. Canrig Drilling Technology
LTD; District Court of Harris County Texas; We
represented Mr. Kenneth Broussard who was a derrick man/floor
hand employed by Nabors Drilling USA. During drilling
operations, the guard on a top drive on the drilling rig
fell and hit Mr. Broussard in the head, shattering his
hard hat and causing serious injuries. The top drive was
designed and manufactured by CANRIG. The case settled
for a confidential amount.
Michael
Bruns vs. Brian Coyle, et al;
District Court, Harris County, Texas; Our firm represented
the family of a Houston area banker who died when he was
struck by another driver. This case resulted in a confidential
settlement.
Fontenot
vs. Torch Operating Co. and others; District
Court, Harris County, Texas; In this personal injury case,
we represented Mr. Fontenot who lost his leg during an
oilfield explosion. The case resulted in a settlement.
Gunn
vs. Wyman Gordon Company; District Court, Harris
County, Texas; This was a wrongful death case arising
out of an explosion at a plant. We represented the family
of one of the employees killed in the blast. The case
resulted in a confidential settlement.
Guerra
and others vs. Phillips Petroleum Co. and Phillips 66;
District Court, Harris County, Texas; We represented more
than 200 injured employees and their families in this
case that arose out of an explosion at the Phillips Petroleum
plant in Pasadena, Texas. Each case was settled during
the first trial for confidential amounts.
Hiles
vs. Aeriform Corporation, Austin Industrial, Equistar
Chemical Company and Greenwade Services; District
Court, Harris County, Texas; Our firm represented a minor
child for the wrongful death of his father who was killed
while working at Equistar Chemical plant. The decedent,
Bryan Turner, was sandblasting in a boiler at the Equistar
plant while wearing an oxygen mask. The oxygen tank supplied
to Mr. Turner contained only 2% oxygen, instead of the
19-23% oxygen that should have been in it. The lack of
oxygen caused M. Turner’s death by asphyxiation.
The case was settled for a confidential amount shortly
before jury selection began.
Kathy
Martin, et al vs. Asuncion Perez Gutierrez, R. Hassell
and Company, Inc.; District Court Harris County,
Texas; Kathy Martin was catastrophically injured when
the convertible Ford Mustang she was driving collided
with an R. Hassell and Company Construction vehicle. We
represented Kathy and her family in a lawsuit which resulted
in a confidential settlement on the one year anniversary
of the accident.
Prince
vs. Yemen Hunt Oil Co.; District Court, Harris
County, Texas; We represented Mr. Prince who suffered
a heart attack while working in Yemen. The case resulted
in a confidential settlement.
Drexel
Stewart vs. Crown Central Petroleum, et al; We
represented Mr. Stewart for his claims against Crown Central
Petroleum. Mr. Stewart was a tanker truck driver. While
delivering gasoline, there was a spill at a loading terminal
that resulted in Stewart being burned over 67 percent
of his body. The case was settled for $30.9 million.
